Tesoro Supervisor Pipeline Maintenance in Dickinson, North Dakota

SUMMARY

Supervises the activities of pipeline maintenance crews in the Andeavor Logistics Midcontinent Gathering and Processing region and delivers small to medium size maintenance projects. This role works closely with logistics operations engineering staff and pipeline operations for implementation of pipeline maintenance and pipeline improvement projects. The role requires powerful collaboration with DOT compliance, right-of-way, environmental health and safety and integrity management staff.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervises assigned pipeline and pipeline right-of-way maintenance activities, pipeline repair and improvement projects.

  • Responsible for health, safety and environmental compliance for pipeline maintenance operations; maintaining safe operations, work environments and performance of employees and contractors.

  • Ensures pipeline environmental and regulatory compliance with State and PHMSA regulations, company policies and procedures and support of internal and external compliance reviews.

  • Leads incident and emergency response activities and participate in spill drills and exercises.

  • Coordinates pipeline maintenance activities with the pipeline maintenance team, operations engineering and pipeline operations including inspections, right-of-way maintenance, pipeline maintenance/repair and pipeline abandonments.

  • Provides input for annual expense and capital budget for pipeline, terminal and pump stations and manage expenses.

  • Provides maintenance daily reports to the Manager, Pipeline Maintenance.

  • Supports team objectives and identifies and recommends opportunities for improvement, safety, efficiency and budget and assists the Manager, Pipeline Maintenance the implementation of the improvements.

REQUIREMENTS

  • EDUCATION*:

  • Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent required

  • American Welding Society, Certified Weld Inspector (AWS CWI)

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 10 years progressively responsible experience in regulated hazardous liquid pipeline, terminal or pump station construction or maintenance including project management, cost control and crew supervision.

  • Thorough knowledge of 49 CFR 195 transportation pipeline regulations.

  • Self motivated and capable of working effectively with little supervision.

  • Ability to prioritize daily work schedules depending on operational requirements.

  • OSHA Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) training and ability to perform spill response duties.

  • Ability to accurately communicate both orally and written.
