  • Summary*

Provides product quality subject matter expertise for gasoline and diesel to the Andeavor system.

  • Responsibilities*

  • Provides subject matter expertise in gasoline and diesel fuel quality to the Andeavor system. Provides technical guidance to Refineries and Logistics regarding handling, sampling, testing and shipping of these fuels.

  • Responds to product quality incidents and shares learnings from near misses and investigations throughout the system. Participates in product quality investigations to provide subject matter expertise to investigation team.

  • Monitors effectiveness of quality assurance controls for products. Conducts gap assessments primarily through site performance audits on product quality. Communicates findings. Leads efforts to implement approved recommendations for increasing product optimization while minimizing potential for quality incidents in supply chain. Identifies new technologies to increase effectiveness of quality monitoring program.

  • Coordinates granting of shipment quality waivers for gasoline and diesel as needed.

  • As designated, serves as company representative on industry and regulatory groups regarding product quality. Coordinates with Corporate Affairs to stay abreast of industry developments impacting product quality.

  • Mentors business units’ staff on importance of product quality. Develops and implements communication strategies and other tactics to raise awareness of product quality within business units and promote product quality culture and continuous improvement.

  • Requirements*

  • EDUCATION*

· Minimum undergraduate degree in engineering or chemistry required.

· Advanced engineering or chemistry degree preferred

Experience

· Minimum 10 years’ experience in terminal operations, technical support or fuels quality/research required.

· Experience with USA and Mexico fuel regulations and/or regulatory reporting preferred.

  • SPECIAL SKILLS*

  • Fully proficient in Spanish and English in a professional and commercial business environment

  • Ability to utilize Microsoft Excel and Access databases to collect, analyze and report product quality information

  • Knowledge of petroleum product chemical characteristics.

  • Knowledge of ASTM International tests for petroleum products.
